The city of Trujillo


Trujillo is a friendly and colonial city, which is at the same time one of the main economic and cultural centers of northern Peru.
Trujillo is located in a coastal desert region, it's the commercial center for surrounding irrigated farmlands on which sugarcane and rice are grow. It's also a transportation center and has manufactures that include textiles and food products. The city of Trujillo was founded in 1534. In 1612 an earthquake caused extensive damage here. The city's growth dates from the 1800s, when irrigated agriculture was expanded. Population (1998 estimate) 603,657.
Trujillo, where the Moche and Chimu cultures have left us extraordinary construction such as the Huaca del Sol and Luna and Chan-Chan.
